Thunderbird extensions - call for help

A long time ago i got interested in writing extensions for firefox and thunderbird, and even wrote simple extension for the latter. I was pretty sure nobody used it, until i got a message in mozdev forum with a question when will it be available for Thunderbird 1.5. I hope it’s not too much work :) . However i did not found a document which specifies the needed changes.
Anyone, please, give me a link to such document.
UPDATE:it was not as hard as i thought. Changing the max version number did the trick.
UPDATE2:it’s also here on update.mozilla.org

Very nice backup application

After my move to ArchLinux, i was looking for a nice backup application. The requirements were (I used Mandrake backup before):

  • simple - to configure, run, examine results
  • possibility to run from cron - a must
  • optional GUI configuration
  • simple way to exclude files (and multiple files)
There’re a lot of applications out there, but somehow, the only one I actually tried (I read a lot of manuals for others) is sbackup.
I believe it answers all my requests. There’s one nice feature “don’t backup file larger than X” - which i found very useful, since i tend to forget large files in my ~. I hope sbackup is going to stay, there’s even PKGBUILD for it in AUR.

tcsh goodies

For tcsh users (and i’m such a person at work), there’s great configuration files collection which will remind you of all possible settings you can change for your convenience.

Image hosting - zoto.com

I was looking for a site to upload my photos from my France trip, and, with help of del.icio.us i found zoto - a site where you can get a free account with 2GB storage for your photos. Photos can be tagged (similar to del.icio.us), organized to galleries, etc’. The site is pretty comfortable, i even sent several suggestions for improvements to the developers.
And now comes the punchline - it has uploader application for Linux!. You can download the source code and compile, providing you have qt, curl, some other stuff and obviously a compiler ;) .
My photos are here.
There’s updated post about zoto

My first PKGBUILD

After installing ArchLinux and understanding how abs and pacman work, i found out one nice plugin for xfce-panel is missing. Well, i added a PKGBUILD for it to AUR.
Now i feel like a real ArchLinux user :D
No I need just to finish the configuration: choose backup and install it and do other minor stuff.

Online calendar, once again

I got an invitation for account from calendarhub. I registered ;) . After all, i’m still looking: 1, 2, 3. Currently the most able competitor is airset, with a lot of others, which are working on features.
Well, calendarhub looks nice. However, it’s still in BETA and not very usable: i tried to import events from evolution and recurrence disappeared. I tried to set recurrence manually, but it caused a problem. So i guess i’ll wait and see till it becomes more stable.
